Imagine a home that makes your whole life better

Design Your Happy Place is a 4 week Visual Mantra, Interior Design program that will shift the relationship between you and your home. (Don't know what Visual Mantra is? Watch my TED Talk about it HERE) By the time we're finished together, you'll have tools to listen to the conversations you're already having with your surroundings. You'll learn what pieces make up your happy place and you'll have new perspective and understanding about how to surround yourself with things that light you up from the inside out - starting from the outside in. Learn to live happier and more fulfilled everyday through an enlivened relationship with your surroundings.

Why does it matter?

You know how they say you're a combination of the 5 people you spend the most time with? That's because your reality is created by who and what surrounds you.

  • What 5 rooms do you spend the most time in?
  • How are they affecting your everyday life?
  • Are they helping you be bigger and better and take over the world?
  • Or are they cramping your style, burying you under expectations and 'should's?

Design Your Happy Place is for you if:

1. You're caught in the same old loop - "When I know what I want or have more money; when more organized / married / have more time: once I'm the person I want to be...THEN I will make my spaces match that version of me." DYHP is the place to come if you're ready to shift your loop!

2. You're sick of the overwhelm and need a guided way to make the right decisions for your spaces. {Saving you a whole lot of time and money!}

3. You're ready to dive into who you are, what you want, and to start designing the life you know in your heart you were made to live.

4. You're ready to 'learn to fish' when it comes to your surroundings - you want to be able to do all {or at least most} of the design work for yourself to improve your life and your interiors.

What do you get?

  • Create a personalized map to guide decisions (independent of the prescribed labels like 'modern' or 'traditional')
  • Learn how your unique design guide helps you narrow from overwhelming options to a few perfect selections
  • Reignite the rock star 'you' buried under the wrong 'stuff'
  • Design spaces that are cheerleader, lover and life coach all in one
  • Transition more gracefully (literally + mentally) into the next phase of your life (designed by YOU)
  • Know why you are choosing what you're choosing - know what it feeds for you
  • Inspire the everyday life you want to live (yes, even better than your Pinterest board)!

How do we do this?

  1. Shift your awareness of how your surroundings make you feel. How do the smells, sounds, feels (touch) make you feel? Which ones make you feel good and why?
  2. Explore a journey of self-discovery. Determine how you want to feel, and then consciously connect with the things that make you feel that way.
  3. Find the common threads. Use your new knowledge and awareness to get rid of things that don’t make you feel good, and find elements that genuinely create your personal unique happy place!

What does this look like?

  • 4 weeks of online recordings (30-60 min/week)
  • Visual examples
  • Worksheets to guide your discovery
  • Exercises to explore your style
  • External references to learn even more about the content
  • Online support through the Visual Mantra Club

I'll leave you with this:

Design Your Happy Place is focused on giving you the tools you need to intentionally choose your surroundings in a way that inspires a better, more fulfilled life, effective immediately. And I can tell you from experience (in addition to piles of hard scientific evidence) that the effect is immense. This course puts the steering wheel in your hands. Whether you want to work with a designer or not, the foundation you'll create in this course will assure that your spaces will be all about you rather than simply the style of your home, the taste of your designer or the latest fads. Instead of answering the question, 'What's your style?' with 'modern' or 'craftsman', you'll be able to say, 'My style is ME!'

Maybe you're a little bit country and a little bit rock n' roll, maybe you're a Victorian minimalist and maybe you ditch the labels altogether and just say, 'I love my home, it's a beautiful, living reflection of my family and it lights me up whenever I spend time in it!' BAM; mic drop. Way to own {and rock} your look, your surroundings and your gorgeous self!

Mandy Straight
Interior ontologist. Colorful sheep. Curiosity junkie. *interior designer, speaker, writer

Mandy has been referred to as "the colorful sheep" in the family; an onion-peeler; a purpose-seeker; a super-nerd with an insatiable curiosity for life who truly believes that Einstein teaches us as much about ourselves as Chanel. And that Oprah is just as valid for insight and inspiration as daVinci.

As an Interior Designer, her 15 years of professional work focuses not on the "stuff" in each room but on the life that it facilitates and the future it inspires for each individual client. She works in a 'Goldilocks Structure' that meets you where you are to help get results that are all about you living in your happy place. She agrees with Churchill that, "We shape our spaces, thereafter they shape us."

As a Naked Ontologist, Mandy speaks, writes and conducts workshops that spark a journey inside what it means to 'BE' and how we can do it better, independent of the labels that get in the way of a more complete perspective. With a background in French, math, theater and a childhood full of books, her explorations include everything from Plato to pop culture, from Rumi to zombie, in addition to Harry Potter and fashion trends.
